Is hulu worth it
It’s not unwatchable but it can be annoying, especially if you’re not used to having ads anymore. I only deal with them because I’m paying 99 cents a month. you could always upgrade again. A lot of current shows still have ads even with the no ad plan. IMHO it's not that bad. Less than regular TV.
Anime. If I'm not mistaken, most of the TV anime that you can find in Hulu are already available in at least one of the three sites: Crunchyroll, FUNimation, HiDIVE. Unless you also plan to watch non-anime content, then Hulu might just be redundant. Hulu is US only and does not have international options.
