Is the sig sp2022 discontinued

SIG's 2012 catalogue states (paraphrase) "smaller grip included" with gun. This would lead one to believe that the higher the number, the smaller the grip. Or maybe mine was reversed.

This polymer frame gun with a stainless steel slide is very similar to the P229, but for about half the price. The grip and controls are very similar as is the 3.9" barrel length and overall size. The SP stands for SigPro. There are also rumors that the SP2022 were discontinued; that is not true. Sig Sauer SP2022 9mm Luger 3.9in Black Nitron Pistol - 15+1 Rounds. Sig Saur has squeezed in half again as many 9mm cartridges in this pistol as the standard 10-round capacity version with little noticeable difference in grip. You will notice the slightly higher loaded weight of 15 versus 10-rounds, but that is to be expected.SiGDaK.
