Remington put out a series of ads for the Model 8 & 81 touting them as bear blasters. It was considered THE bear cartridge back in the day.

The 35 Rem is the perfect all-around chambering short of a 375/444/45-70. It can do the job on black bear and deer due to the bigger and heavier bullet.
