Shired island trail beach

While Suwannee and Horseshoe Beach are the most prominent spots on the map (they have restaurants, marinas, condos to rent and boat ramps), Shired Island is just a “spot” at the end of a 9-mile drive south from the intersection of lonely CR351 and CR357 (there’s a sign!).

This is probably the best beach camping between Cedar Key and Steinhatchee. There's a long fishing pier, and when the tide is in, the beach is nice. It gets busy on weekends, of course. There are a few developed sites, but you can also dry camp on the beach.
